Details

Dean Ryan was responsible for the preparation of a biological survey for the valley elderberry longhorn beetle, a wetland delineation, and report preparation for the Central Federal Lands Highway Division (CFLHD), Federal Highway Administration (FHWS), Department of Transportation. The work was performed for portions of California Forest Highway (FH) 105, Marysville Road.

Dean Ryan staff performed a survey for the valley elderberry longhorn beetle and its elderberry foodplant at all survey locations. We delineated wetlands at the Oregon House location in accordance with the Corps of Engineersº 1987 delineation manual and routine one-site determination methods. Drew the wetland boundaries on the project mapping supplied by the FHWA. Prepared and submitted separate Data Form No. 1 for each plant community type within the survey area.

Reports included the Valley longhorn elderberry beetle which outlined the precise location of all elderberry shrubs, their height and diameter, the presence of adult exit holes, and the general condition of the plants. Measure the diameter of the stems at ground level. Included a map which indicates the major vegetational communities present at each site where elderberry plants were found.
