    As a result of the massive seismic event that took place on January 17, 1994, Dean Ryan as part of the Law/Crandall Team was responsible for organizing, scheduling, managing and supervising the reconstruction work. As a result of this earthquake, over 100 buildings within a 350 acre campus received extensive structural damage.

    Dean Ryan's project staff developed programs and assisted in the architectural and civil design of new and reconstruction of the following facilities: Arts, Media and Communication Building; Health and Human Development Technology Center; Administration Building, Student Services Center, Main Distribution Frame Facility, Monterey Hall, Sierra Hall South, and Ovartt Library Wings. Dean Ryan was responsible for the review of all facets of on going work such as; attending coordination meetings between various consultants and the university staff and administration, review of the work submitted by out side architects, structural, mechanical, electrical, life safety, civil and geotechnical engineers, reviewed and revised existing space planning conditions to accommodate for ADA requirements. In addition, Dean Ryan was responsible for the preparation of bid documents, specifications and the administration of bids for the work being performed on the campus. Dean Ryan also observed the repairs conducted by outside contractors and vendors.
