Dean Ryan designed and has implemented an entire Department of the Navy Energy Awareness program for the past six years, and is under contract to continue for the next three years. The program has many components.

One of the key elements of the energy awareness program is to modify personnel behavior in energy conservation. Promotional materials are viewed by advertising experts as an important element in encouraging employees to modify behavior. The intent of the promotional materials is to present the message of energy conservation many times over the course of the year.

Dean Ryan provided all labor and materials to produce promotional materials for the Energy Awareness Program. Dean Ryan was responsible for distributing the materials to DON shore facilities. Dean Ryan developed an Energy Awareness campaign for the current year, designed a logo and a theme and incorporated this design onto materials including: energy manager awareness guide, calendars, room thermometers, water bottles, magnets, coffee mugs, flashlight key rings, light switch stickers, pens, mouse pads, and post-it-notes.

Furthermore, Dean Ryan developed and manufactured a Pentagon display structure. The display included DON goals for conserving energy, current status of achieving goals, and what is being done at the DON activity level to achieve these goals.

Dean Ryan arranged to place the Energy Awareness Display in the Pentagon for the month of October, Energy Awareness Month.
