MONTHLY FEATURE
ENERGY AWARDS CEREMONY
United States Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center (NFESC), Port Hueneme, CA

As part of the Energy Awareness Program, an energy awards ceremony is held annually. As the Prime Contractor, Dean Ryan was responsible for providing specific support for the ceremony which occurred in October of 1998,1999 and 2000 at the Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. As a result of our successful performance in these years, we have been tasked to provide support again for this ceremony which occured in October 2001.

Dean Ryan prepared a program for the Award Ceremony, a multi-media presentation, and a script narrative for the speaker of the awards ceremony. The script discussed the energy and utility dollar saving accomplishments of the activity. Dean Ryan wrote media placement articles for submission to at least three Navy publications, three national publications, and to local newspapers, radio and TV stations. Furthermore, Dean Ryan performed HTML programming, site integration of the new SECNAV winners on the Navy Energy Home page. This task also involved the development of a SECNAV Awards Process Flow Chart, which documented the multiple steps involved in the awards process - to ensure the program is conducted efficiently and effectively.

Each year, various size Navy and Marine Corps activities, ships and squadrons compete for recognition and funds through the SECNAV energy award program. Dean Ryan converts up to 30 of these award application submittals and submits them to DOE for further competition at the Federal level.
